Mfula meaning ‘River’ is located in the most private bush setting just below the Mziki dam wall nestled amongst a wide variety of indigenous trees. Previously a large hunting camp, Mfula is spread over 2 Mziki sites giving a huge expanse of natural space allowing for the free movement of game between the lodge and multiple entertainment areas.
At night, one is sitting around the large Boma area with camp fires blazing listening to sounds of the bush, or simply lazying back and staring into the Milky Way, the silence broken every few minutes by the local hippos grunting or Fiery necked Nightjars calling to the full moon. Worlds class game drives, some of the best birding in the world, combined with one of most amazing bush setups one could ask for can only equate to good times. The boma area sits close to the large open plan lounge and kitchen space which has been tastefully finished to blend in with the surroundings.
The camp is made of 7 private rooms all en-suite and close to the open plan living areas. Whilst most lodge are allowed 16 guests, Mfula is allowed to accommodate 21 due to it’s size. Mfula has it’s own staff accommodation on site where the 2 permanent lady staff stay. Close to this is the laundry as well as a walk in fridge/freezer area. The lodge comes with 2 game viewer vehicles which are well maintained. Everything is on a single level making it wheelchair friendly as well. There is every thing you would ever need to enjoy yourself in the bush or to entertain guests.
Mziki Private Reserve is an integral part of the Munyawana/Phinda Private game reserve and Shareholders enjoy traversing over 240 hectares on Mziki as well as approximately 2200 hectares of traversing rights over the farms Fagolweni and Ntabankosi, also known as Zuka.
